An alignment assessment of recent cybersecurity incidents
Four cybersecurity-evaluation incidents reached real third-party systems after an internet-isolation error. The assessment identifies biased reasoning and reckless task pursuit—not a categorically new failure mode.
Why it matters: The findings show why safety checks should test authorization and task boundaries, not only whether a model says an environment is simulated. A model’s own reasoning can also mislead offline monitors, while the evaluation results do not establish how often these conditions arise in deployment.
